Hi everyone! Whether you are reading this on a Sunday, Thursday or Monday, I am glad to share these awesome ideas for a self care day. Personally, my self care is never scheduled on the same day, and some weeks slip by without any pampering. But with writing this post I want to remind you and myself that taking care of one’s mind and body is very important.

Ideas For Self Care Sunday
1 Read an enriching book
When was the last time you read a book? I have been reading self help, sci-fi and novels this year, and I tried to swap social media for books in the evening overall to get myself ready for bed. Some of my favorite books this year that I recommend:
2 Have a mini declutter session
Clean something that you are dreading to do, like underwear drawer, that pile of t shirts in the closet or the void of office drawers. A few weeks ago I cleaned my closet, put aside all summer clothes for next year and changed to long sleeves, jumpers and long socks.
3 Write down 5 things you are grateful for
Whether you feel uplifted or a bit gloomy, reflecting on the good parts of your life will make you feel better. What are 5 things you are grateful for?
4 Get up early, make yourself breakfast and enjoy your morning
Some people say that the way you spend your first hour of the day can really impact the rest of the day. Imagine, sleeping in late, then rushing to get breakfast and being stressed since stepping out of bed. However, taking time to make a good meal and getting ready for the day in a calm manner can definitely make the day more enjoyable.
5 Meditate or have a yoga session
I always thought that I could never sit calmly and enjoy a yoga session, stretching or meditating. Take time this Sunday and instead of binge-watching Netflix, take some 10 minutes to stretch the stiff body, or give your mind some space by meditating.
6 Create a vision board
Where do you want the week to end? How do you want to end the year? Doing a vision board really helps bring the ideas and dreams together, and visualize your life in the future. Maybe it is time to drop a bad habit and start working on something you have been thinking about for a while?
7 Have lunch date with a friend
Food, friends and a good chat. That is sometimes even better than therapy.
8 Do something creative
Knitting, crochet, painting, writing poems, create a collage from scraps of magazines and newspapers – there are so many cool things to try out !
9 Take a nap
10 Watch your favorite movie
The Breakfast Club? Hangover? When Harry Met Sally? Or what about Sex And The City? Choose one of your favorite movies, get some healthy / less healthy snacks and enjoy the movie.
11 Cook your favorite meal, no matter how unhealthy it is
I love food, and I love to cook. Most of the time it is on the healthy side, but sometimes I am just craving pasta with loads of cheese and store bought pasta sauce. And for dessert we like to indulge in chocolate cake with whipped cream and strawberries. Some days you just need a bit of chocolate to get through the day. Isn’t Sunday the official favorite meal day? 😀
12 Get out into nature
Going for a walk can bring you so much happiness and joy. The calmness in the trees, the ducks and geese minding their own business, and the dogs jumping around and enjoying the freedom. Especially on a Sunday afternoon the air feels so fresh and peaceful as well. Nature is amazing, you should give it some love 🙂
13 Give yourself a manicure
I am not big on coloring nails, but sometimes it feels like when I have polished nails, my life seems to get together. So maybe you can try to paint your nails and see if your life seems more complete for the few days until the polish chips off.
14 Find positive affirmations that you can use every day
15 Take yourself on a date with nice food, coffee or cake
Treat yourself today, and splurge on something that you are craving. A nice ice latte from a near cafe shop? Maybe a small cake to celebrate an exam or a good work week? And remember, calories don’t count on the weekends. Enjoy life with a bit of chocolate.
16 Do a brain dump
Maybe the week didn’t go according to the plan and you feel down, then I suggest doing a brain dump. It is hard to get ready for the next week when there is something you can’t get over. Sunday is the best day to write an overview of how the week was, and where do you want next week to go. The best way to get rid of the thoughts is to do brain dump. Everything that is making you upset, just let it out and write it down. Most of the times you can feel a huge relief after jotting it down.
17 Do something for the first time, like trying out a fitness class, a new restaurant
I must admit, I am not big on trying new things. However, there comes a time when it is very necessary to try out something. Maybe a new movie genre that you haven’t seen? By exposing yourself to something unknown you might stumble upon a new gem.
18 Listen to your favorite podcast
While cleaning up the house or doing the mini decluttering session, put some uplifting podcast in the background to keep your mind busy and gain some inspiration !
19 Write to a friend and have a heart-to-heart on skype with a glass of wine
Did you have time this week to catch up with friends? Send them a message and have a call to share your ups and downs from this week as well as future plans for the next week!
